Self Awareness
I keep myself alive

• Self Awareness

A few questions:
If a computer was give the ability to keep it self alive would it be aware?

Is there any software that I can install on my PC to test this?

If I do not want to die and my body keeps me alive is that why I am aware?

I am a PC tech with the wish to write code for the PC to be aware and for the PC to have self proctection. Protecting itself, will this lead to AI and or Self-awareness?

Basicly if self-awareness = I am and if we give PC's self-awareness will this be the begnning of new life form? And is this the right thing to do?

The simple answer is no.

Just because something is self-sustaining doesn't make it self-aware.

A machine or computer can be programmed to keep itself alive, but it wont be aware it is doing so. It will just be following instructions. Self-awareness requires an extremely dynamic environment.

<p>A example would be BEAM robots. Although they have no programming, they are analogue robots that can live without human intervention. When their batteries get low, they seek out sunlight and recharge themselves, once their battery is full, they go about their merry.
But they just use simple logical layout of components. The machine don't decide to save themselves and have no clue they are doing it.
